Forum Post Week 5

For this week’s forum I am going to give instructions on how to get my six year old son ready for school every morning.

At Promptly seven am you open Joshua’s bedroom door and tell him it is time to wake up. He will say “OK’ and put the covers over his head. You then tell him there is a tickle monster and tickle him until he comes out. You pick out his clothes for the day together and you send him into the bathroom to brush his teeth and hair. You wait outside the door and make sure he does a thorough job. While he puts on the clothes you picked out together, you go to the kitchen to prepare his breakfast.
In the kitchen, you retrieve a fry pan from the cupboard and put it on the stove. You then gather butter and a spatula.. You use the spatula to put a pat of butter in the fry pan. You turn the stove burner on putting it on medium heat. While the butter is melting, you take a large bowl out of the cupboard. You also gather pancake mix, milk, and eggs. You put one cup of pancake mix in the bowl, add one half cup of milk and one egg. You find a whisk and whisk the mixture until it is thoroughly mixed. You then use a half-cup measuring cup to pour a perfectly round pancake into the preheated fry pan. When the pancake is bubbly on the top you use the spatula to flip it. You wait until it is golden brown, checking it several times by lifting it with the spatula, and then put it on a plate. You then take maple syrup from the cupboard and pour a generous amount on the pancake. You take the plate and put it on the kitchen table with a fork and a glass of milk.
You then go back to Joshua’s bedroom and tell him his breakfast is ready. You check to make sure he got dressed properly, he often gets creative and deviates from the chosen outfit, and help him tie his shoes. You follow him to the kitchen and have him sit at the table. He will then inevitably say, “I wanted cereal.’ While he eats his pancake, you gather his backpack and coat. When he is finished, you put him in his coat and backpack and walk him to the bus stop.
