Subject: Adidas Group Social Media Policy
Dr. Stice,
The social media policy I reviewed was the adidas Group Social Media Guidelines (https://blog.adidas-group.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/adidas-Group-Social-Media-Guidelines1.pdf). When I was reading through their guidelines, I thought the language they used was very clear and straightforward. They used examples when discussing potential violations and how to go about addressing them if you may be violating those guidelines. The overall tone was positive and I found that the explanations as to why this policy was necessary to be agreeable.
The adidas Group encourages open communication among their staff and I would personally be comfortable abiding by this policy. Everything discussed within their social media guidelines are what we all would consider to be ethical violations. For example, when citing and referencing clients or employers you must first get their approval. In addition, anything related to finances should not be disclosed outside of the adidas Group.
Following each example, there was a clear explanation to persuade individuals to not violate the social media guidelines. There was a statement about how you can never get rid of anything on the internet so take the time and review your post before publishing it for the world to see. Following your review, if you are still not certain about your post then see your manager or Corporate Communication. The adidas Group makes sure there are plenty of resources available to employees if there is ever any uncertainty when using a social media platform. In conclusion, I think that their social media guidelines are fair and I would be comfortable abiding by their policy.
Best,
Marie Gotti
