Overview
For this assignment, you will write a statement of intent in which you identify and clarify the idea your group would like to develop for the proposal assignment. In order to do this, you must first select a topic and then conduct some preliminary research on that topic. Please try to stick to reputable sources, preferably academic ones. Remember that you must select a project that meets the requirements of the UAF RISE grant.
Instructions
To create a Statement of Intent, complete the following steps:
- Identify your project idea and its category
- How does it fit the UAF definition of sustainability?
- How will it benefit the university?
- Consider Your Vision
- What is your “vision’ for this project?
- Identify and Prioritize Tasks
- What are the tasks that need to be accomplished?
- In what order do they need to be completed?
- When will each be completed?
- Set Work Goals
- What general result do you want to achieve in each task?
- What are your goals for your final product?
- Develop Strategies to Accomplish Goals
- For each goal, what strategies will you use to achieve the results you want?
- For each goal, how will you go about implementing each strategy?
- Determine Necessary Tasks
- For each goal, what specific tasks must be done to carry it out?
- What resources are needed?
- When will it be done?
- Cite Your Sources

Submission
When you submit your document, please format it like a memo, making use of headers, sub-headers, and spacing to create a readable and usable document. You will submit this assignment in one stage:
Final- Your document will be submitted to our class Google Drive folder. Look in Proposal folder and then the Statement of Intent folder. Please be sure you have submitted your document in the correct folder, and that the names of all group members are on the document.
Grading Criteria
This assignment will be graded according to the following criteria:
- How well the requirements for each document are followed
- How effective each document is in accomplishing the task involved
- How well the audience is considered
- Correct document format
- The mechanical and grammatical correctness of each letter
- Originality and creativity applied in completing the assignment
- Successful group collaboration
